They didn't really have the chance to get into advanced swordplay techniques before Mr. "What do we say to the god of Death" iced it.
The further this series gets away from the source material (and we're really getting into deep fanfiction-esque territory now) the worse the dialogue becomes. It's practically a direct correlation.
