Unsolicited advice from someone who survived a very necessary estrangement from her own mother: beware of anyone who attempts to convince you that you should be able to look past this. I wish someone had told me 20 years ago that “blood is not thicker than safety.” Thank you and good luck.

I watched the regular season, and saw the Cardinals’ leader, Yadi, and their best pitcher Martinez both have season ending injuries in the last two weeks. That team won 100 games, and still would of had a better roster with Heyward.

The whole BFIB crap started was because of the place’s reluctance to boo and heckle there. They didn't even boo Barry Bonds. Busch used to be hardcore against drunk guys who were hostile against the road team, which is why I smelled bullshit in the story.

The main reason is because his departure, to the franchise’s biggest rival switched the balance of power in the NL Central. He then ranted about how the Cardinals were too old and he wanted to play for a younger team. St. Louis has always had a reputation for not paying free agents, and it’s rare that the fans boo any

Whereas Cubs fans seem to prefer targeting their own black players. And they prefer to mail it to them.

Because all fan bases do the same thing to free agent players. Not just a STL thing... I’m sure if it was Philly there would be racial slurs thrown along with batteries.

I have a hard time believing fans would get away with this at Busch, or any stadium for that matter.

“Cards fans are racist” jokes around here are popular, but no chance fans would get away with this at a baseball game, with lots of kids around, without getting kicked out. Getting kicked out for the language, press

I guess the NYDN was assuming that Cards fans would treat Heyward the same way Cubs fans treated Dusty Baker, or Milton Bradley, or Latroy Hawkins, or Jacque Jones, or ....
