Regardless of his personal situation the covid lie was, in my most generous assessment, poorly thought out. I don’t know what the possible punishment for that charge is, but it’s probably lighter than what he deserved.

In Brazil there are no lists, but the registry official can decline to register a name that they understand will bring embarrassment to the child. If the parents want to follow through after the refusal, they need to take it up to a judge (and provide a very good reasoning).
