Wow. Way to miss the point entirely.

This would make sense if I'd hijacked the thread.

It's a weird situation. My understanding is that photographers aren't supposed to intervene unless no one else is around and a life is at stake. This was in a public place with lots of people watching.

I did not say they were the same thing. My point was that fat people are also discriminated against, and that I was glad someone at Jezebel was writing about it. That's all I was saying.

What's interesting is that I was simply responding to comments about how Lindy should shut up about fat issues. I said that fat discrimination was a thing and it was real. I didn't say it was like being black.

Nope.

I appreciate your thoughts. People were talking about the pros and cons of different writers - my original response was part of that conversation.

In a million years, it would not be OK for me to write something like that to a black woman on Jezebel.

The number of people who are able to vastly change their lifestyle is very, very small - and even if they do so, it's usually for the short term. They gain the weight back and then some.

I never said obesity was just a white issue - anywhere. In fact I said that overweight POC are the most discriminated against.

Where did people do that on Jezebel? I must have missed it. Because that's where we are having this discussion.

My point is that fat people are also discriminated against and that I am glad Lindy writes about it.

I did not say that. I said that fat people are also discriminated against and that fat-shaming and bias are encouraged in today's society. And changing diet is part of changing lifestyle. For most people who are seriously overweight they cannot continue the drastic changes needed to keep off the weight (see the

IT is on now! It started at midnight CST on ION? (I have no idea what that channel is.)

All of Roth's books are great. I also liked David Kessler's "The End of Overeating" because of its scientific approach.

My point is that while people "can" lose weight, statistically it is very unlikely. That's all that comment was about.

I wasn't comparing them. I was defending Lindy's posts and saying that I was glad that she was speaking out for fat people. That's how this started.

Again, I did not say they were the same. It's a totally separate thing.

My entire point is that there is a lot of discrimination against fat people and that I felt anyone who dared disagree that Jezebel is a place for white privilege was attacked.

The two of you can sit there and call me naive and condescendingly give me "things to think about" - and then talk about how I'm coming from a place of entitlement? That's hilarious.
