I think you hit the nail on the head. Are you doing the repairs with cash or are you taking out an additional loan? If it’s a loan, then yeah, no savings (although the benefit of selecting things to your taste), but if it’s cash, you’ll save the interest on having the cost of those repairs tacked onto your mortgage.

Thanks for the head’s up on that. I would have thought garlic would have had to have been peeled recently to still be good, but I actually don’t really know what the shelf life is. If that is the case, then that’s horrifying.
