It’s a really interesting read about how different our (American) society is compared to others when it comes to the funeral industry and how it takes advantage of grieving families. It’s one of those books that is relevant in conversations more often than you’d think.

I really enjoyed that book too and followed it with The American Way of Death: Revisited, by Jessica Mitford, which has completely changed how I feel about burial, etc.

He’ll probably get a lot of work initially riding his GOT fame, but I’m not sure about his longevity either. I suspect he’ll continue starring in a bunch of big budget but shitty and forgettable action movies (a la Pompeii) before tapering down to some serious dramas and perhaps a WWII mini-series.

I once worked at a place that was closing its doors and I was one of the last employees. There wasn’t much to do in the last few months so I just read a lot. It was really nice and too short lived.

Getting paid to read is literally my dream job.

I’m not sure it’s usually the mothers pushing for c-sections but rather the doctors/hospitals. They are faster and they can bill a lot higher for them, so I think they are often pushed for long before it is medically necessary.
