Most of the EU novels sucked; hackwork for hire by MOSTLY novelists that wouldn’t have been worth your time if that Star Wars logo wasn’t on the cover*, with increasingly ridiculous central planning driving, as I said in another thread, increasingly bloated and silly developments in the story.

It wasn’t too bad at first, but somewhere in the late 90's-early 00's it just became too much. The EU was like a painting that collapsed under the weight of too many brush strokes.

I too am sick and tired of men being portrayed as idiots. Have you seen this fucking president lately

I guess I never had this problem because my fandom of choice is Lord of the Rings, where accepting that the canon is largely Tolkien’s patchwork attempt to fill in holes and flesh out the backstory as questions arose is part of the deal.

Weirdest part of this is that Rotten Tomatoes has taken such a “nothing to see here” stance on this publicly. I get that they want to project integrity, but their user scores are the main piece of evidence for all the “divisiveness” articles out there so you’d think they’d want to keep the record straight

There was a time we ruled society and I want to see that again. That is why I voted for Donald Trump...

“A battered and weary Disney Corporation surrendered Thursday, agreeing to hand director Rian Johnson over to Down With Disney’s Treatment Of Franchises and Its Fanboys for summary execution, saying the group’s negative Rotten Tomatoes reviews had completely negated the hundreds of millions of dollars Disney expected

As someone who was actually a fan of the old EU, I can honestly say that Disney canning it was a great decision. It had gotten far to overgrown and incestuous. Plus a fair bit of it was just schlocky and bad. It needed to be clear cut.

I have been waiting almost a friggin’ week for some of my friends to be around so we can all watch this together. We’re seeing it this Saturday. The wait is starting to get under my skin, and all the articles here that I can’t read for fear of spoilers are not making it any better. (Neither does the fact that these

“The organization Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys, or NAMBLA...”

It’ll be interesting to see how two dead characters will become gay. Maybe the Force afterlife is just one big gay orgy, given that the Star Wars movies have yet to kill off any major characters who are also female and Jedi.

I’m guessing it was the presence of a non-white guy named Del Toro in both that threw them off.

I keep seeing “WTF” in that acronym, which sums it up nicely.

I wish I lived in their world where people who weren’t bigoted asshats had so much power.

That guy is a master class in creating a sympathetic character with zero dialogue and less than a minute of screen time.

In Episode IX, Kylo will get his revenge against Rey by trapping her in the center of a dead planet. Buried alive... Buried alive...

This is still the most male nudity we’ve seen in a Star Wars film to date.

He took off his shirt to prove Tim wrong:

The rancor keeper crying is the emotional low point of any Star Wars movie.
