A-gonz really couldn’t have prevented anything. Nothing a baserunner can do here. Either infielder catches it and you need to be standing on second base to stop the double, or infielder didn’t catch it and you have to go to 3rd because it’s a force out. Agonz couldn’t even go back towards second until the force out…

that’s why the rule ONLY applies if runners are on first and second, or bases loaded. It never protects the batter. It protects the baserunners from getting out because the infielder dropped the ball, throwing to 3rd, and then on to 2nd for the easy double play because those runners never left the base seeing the pop…

It’s the people that don’t understand the rule that are calling for it to be removed.
