I used to rent a car every few months, because my family lived six hours away, with a five-mile bridge between me and them, and my only car has no doors and sometimes its wheels fall off and so forth. Most of my rentals were random Toyotas and Hondas and Nissans and VWs, and they were all some degree of “fine”. They

I have a 2010 Fusion SEL 2.5L that has 227k on it, doesn’t burn ANY oil between changes, and does basically the same gas mileage as your 200.

Nothing mechanical done to it .. original engine, transmission, and gaskets.  It isn’t going to win speed contests, but from getting A to B, I’m not sure what would be more

Twins are in a great spot. Will be much cheaper if this ends up being $40k and the reviews are glowing.

Yeah no doubt, I remember when the whole Ghosn thing first hit the news it was reported that Nissan had already been working on projects behind his back. Based on everything that came out he was not exactly engaged in Nissan very much by then anyway. They must have had these updates planned well in advance because up

Development schedules in the auto industry are a lot longer than the ~20 months since he was ousted. This thing was definitely planned, budgeted and approved for development with Ghosn’s sign-off at least 3 years ago.

It sure seems like they aren’t wasting any time going back to the Nissan us older folks used to know and love since getting Ghosn locked up! And if using old bones gets them there quicker I’m all for it.

I think it’s more like the kick in the ass for Toyota to do something with the new Supra.

That’s not going to be confusing at all.”

Whoa. Nissan makes a highly appealing car with a manual transmission. What is this, the 90's?

Looks like the same game plan as the Frontier... upgrade the chassis, give it a new engine, and really update the interior. If Nissan doesn’t have to change its tool and dies much, they will save lots of money and that will hopefully be reflected in a lower price.

Never been more apparent. Hopefully this will be the kick in the ass Toyota needs to do something more with the Toybaru twins.

R.I.P Supra.

Same, if revised, underlying chassis yes. Though, the 370Z handled fine, it was just a bit heavy. If they put that twin turbo engine in without gaining weight and revised the interior, I think that’s all it really needed.

The difference is the two arguing are not my friends. They’re essentially a contractor and subcontractor fighting over their split in the contract whose price is already set in stone.

Sure, it’s more stable, but diff ground clearance is actually a weakness of a solid axle, not a strength.

I think Jeep’s bullet point about the front differential maintaining more stable ground clearance is a bit dubious”

I think the problem to address here is the idea that they want EVs to entirely replace ICE cars. Convenience tends to win out over saving the planet with your average consumer. I can’t always expect that my electric car can reliably take me on a cross-country road trip should I decide on a whim to go; at least not

even at 900 volts that’s over 300 amps.  doable, but you ain’t gonna be getting that at home.  and I hope the CCS connectors are durable over the life of the vehicle.

Photos and videos rarely do justice to the difficulty of an off-road course.  The slope never looks as steep and the rocks never look as large on video as they do in real life.

No photos of the challenging parts of the courses?
