Telling my mom that I don't want to attend ALL of the (incredibly expensive, week-long) family reunions. I am 47 effing years old and should certainly be expected to make my own decisions about my schedule and finances, but she goes glowing red-eyed BALLISTIC with rage when I say anything she thinks is even broaching

"Every new item of furniture I buy gets me one step closer to my home accurately reflecting the person I want to be." There is nothing quite like this feeling. If you thought your home felt like home before, just wait.

No … Oh. Hey. I just remembered … she gave me great anti-nausea meds last year and I never finished them. Um, thanks for the reminder. :) A couple of days of those should help. Also, I have peppermint oil pills coming and I hear theyr'e a godsend, which I need, as neither Beano nor Lactaid are helping.

My IBS is flaring up huge right now. Nothing I can eat or drink doesn't make me feel bloated and violently nauseated. This has the effect of being exhausting as my system deals with this. Throw in the anemia and I spend most days feeling both sick and sleepy.

In the last week, I've read a Nancy Drew and Patti Smith's Woolgathering. I'm kind of on a teen girl sleuth kick right now, and definitely on a Patti Smith kick.

Aw, I was going to post a special Happy Birthday thread for you! Happy birthday, buddy.

I feel the same way! My gosh, just go, it's your turn! Also, I resent it because it feels like they saw me and felt obligated to let me impose.

I know, right?? At this point, seeing Jodie on the show is like seeing a Ming vase in the corner of the set. You just know something bad is going to happen …. oh wait… WHEW.

I made a lavender cake once, and it was very good. Just enough lavender in it for an herbal taste, no more.

"The ice cream takes crushed tomatoes, garlic, basil, red peppers and fresh cream to make a product that Circa says
is “a surprising balance of flavors that tastes better than it sounds.”
You know what? Good for them. It probably tastes goddamn delicious."

I will vouch for you. But I am a newbie myself and don't know if I've got vouching rights yet.

I know. I'd missed them.

Her writing is lovely. I don't really have a word for it. Gentle? Considered? And so textured.

That sounds lovely, and like a lot of fun to get to know.

On the spur of the moment yesterday afternoon, I bought tickets to see Guardians 2 again after work, and while I was on the website for the theater, I saw that My Cousin Rachel would be there for tonight, one night only. So I got a ticket for it, too. Movies two nights in a row, awesome!

I feel you. Last summer, I was tested for some rare-ish bug called H. Pylori and there were expensive medical bills. Turned out I have IBS.

Preach. Endless interstitials finally drove me to it.

I will at least give Kinja try, but I really hate trying to read threads on Kinja, so I'm glad I'm registered both places.

Finished Patti Smith's Just Kids. I love her voice, whatever the media. Love her sensibility too.

Egg salad with lettuce and a slice of fontina!
