Working my way through The Virgin Suicides. The movie was surprisingly, almost slavishly faithful, and the book is even more evocative of the time than the movie, which is impressive. I'm about 50 pages from finishing, and then I've got LeCarre's The Night Manager waiting for me.
Springsteen's 18 Tracks.
Ha! Foreman seems very sweet, but Bradshaw … bless him, I'm not sure how many IQ points he began life with, but I'm not sure there were many. Pretty sure he life he's led hasn't helped him hang on to them.
I am not a reality show watcher in general, but I've been watching this because I love Henry Winkler and Bill Shatner, and have found it fascinating watching them interact with each other (they seem pretty giggly with each other, but then, who doesn't love Henry Winkler?) and with Foreman and Bradshaw. Foreman seems…
Oh yeah, right … thanks, someday I'll learn to read for comprehension!
Crap. I guess this means I'd better hustle up and get that emotionally taxing Mad Men rewatch going, before I lose access to it on Netflix.
Fantastic user name/comment synergy.
To me, it sounds like winter. It came out in winter, and that is part of it, but there's something so quiet, austere and spare about the sound, and of course there's the whole "winter of his life" thing. On quiet, reflective evenings, it's exactly what I need.

When was the last time they did a Primer (rhetorical, I can look it up) anyway? Those were a helpful place to start. Can we have those back?
Agreed! I'm old enough to remember these - and the outdoor signage they made using them (for bars and other businesses) and as a kid, i LOVED them. I also grew up to love the '60s and '70s aesthetics in general, so I still think these are beautiful.
Sadly, no.
Oh, that sucks. Feel better soon.
You have my sympathies. I have had terrible sinus problems in the past and I know that misery all too well. Are you rinsing (neti pot or squeeze bottle)? I found that rinsing was incredibly helpful.
Have you tried Craigslist? You might find a hauling service there. I found one that took my old couch.
Autumn is my favorite season, but I totally get that. Favorite, followed by least favorite. There's always a feeling of "live it up now because the misery's coming."
It's my favorite of his movies too. Something about it was so evocative that it put me right there in that time and place, and the kid actors were perfect (for a Wes Anderson movie - they had a very stylized performance that worked).
I love Kevin McNally! I remember him first as Harry Wolfe in Life On Mars and it's so odd to see him turn up in everything. The weirdest sighting for me personally was watching Supernatural and his turning up unexpectedly as Frank Devereux.
