I think some men consider resistance as a challenge to overcome and then consider acquiescence to be the same thing as consent. Men are absolutely capable of recognizing verbal and nonverbal cues that mean no even without someone saying no (not that these women didn’t say no in these specific incidents, I don't know

Don't know if I can watch this but I hope the inexplicable number of people still out there defending him do

Trying to make it look like a conspiracy isn’t a bad tactic to sow doubt actually, people loves conspiracies

People are saying it looks like blackface because it looks a lot like blackface. I don’t think they did it intentionally, it’s just a dumb design, but if anyone black had been in the decision making chain before this was put out I have to believe it would be hard not to look at it and immediately see this:

Yes, because the vast majority of sexual assault allegations are true. Since I don’t believe there’s a truly neutral position here, I’m choosing the one more likely to be telling the truth, the accuser.

Yes, I think a position that disadvantages sexual assault survivors is a bad thing. Of course the burden of proof should be higher to be found guilty of a crime, but that’s not what we’re talking about.

I don’t take a position like you’re taking because it almost always favors the accused in these cases.

False accusations are relatively rare and people who come forward deserve to have their allegations treated as serious. Short of something concrete indicating that she is not credible, the likelihood that what she’s alleging is true is enough for me to say that Fairfax needs to take a step back and that I’m not

Not that I thought she had much of chance before, but this is it for her

Yeah, the clearly more racist context of the photo (including the KKK shit) along with the age difference make Northam’s photo worse to me, not mention all the games he’s played to try to get out of taking blame for it

Short of a surprise admission, there’s not gonna be anything that “proves” this one way or the other, but I believe women and have seen absolutely nothing that makes me question her credibility. At this point I don’t want Northam or Fairfax as my governor. Now this Mark Herring mess? I don’t know, I’m stilling

First of all, Northam doesn’t have to resign and by the time he’s up for reelection 98% of VA will not give a shit.

True enough, it’s a law with a lot of racist historical baggage, though given what we’re talking about with R. Kelly it might be worth pointing out that in the cases of Berry and Ingram the girls they were having “consensual relationships” with were 14 and 15 respectively

Ooh that Black Panther nomination is gonna have a lot of people telling on themselves

Holy shit that Black Panther nomination is gonna piss off so many people, I love it

I don’t think it’s fair to take a handful of images or brief descriptions out of context when you’re talking about an entire play and condemn it just on that basis

Yes, definitely

“Most” isn’t all. He’s assuming consent in a situation where there’s a huge power imbalance. Maybe everyone he’s ever done this too was happy about, but maybe some weren’t and just didn’t feel able to speak up given the circumstances. Why take the risk?

Obviously her being underage makes it 10 times worse, but pulling a random woman out of the crowd to kiss and fondle is creepy in general

You’re welcome to disagree with her tax plan idea, but the suggestion that it is extremist or unprecedented only means you’re uninformed and/or have bought into conservative propaganda about wealth and taxes
