I agree to an extent but there's the abstract idea that he does this to all his kids and there's the hard evidence that he hit another child so hard that the kid has a scar on his face. As we saw with the Rice incident, the more details you get, the worse it looks.

I think you forgot about the revelation that he beat another child in the car, showing that this wasn't an isolated incident.
