Yep, this.

Say nothing, get criticized. Say the wrong thing, get crucified. Say the right thing, it’s a trick question there is no right thing to say, get criticized. The only way to win is not to play.

If men talked about sexual harassment, Jack Mirken would be the first to complain about mansplaining.

To the extent that it could be drummed up into clickbait either way? Sure.

Thank you, this is exactly what I thought as well, that most of these guys just understood that it wasn’t time for them to step on the moment by pontificating or virtue signaling. I saw an interview with Claire Foy pre-show and Matt Smith just stood quietly beside her, nodding in agreement with what she said without

I’m heavily leaning of the men keeping their fucking mouths shut.

If men talked about sexual harassment, Jack Mirken would be the first to complain about mansplaining.

I mean...are you really interested in what the men have to say, even if they did decide to say anything?

IDK that we need to come for Aziz Ansari, who literally made sexual harassment in entertainment a major plot point for Master of None season 2 AND let his co-writer Lena Waithe give 100% of the speech when they won their Emmy for best writing. He’s already done more than many creators and was probably was surprised he

And really, the bottom line is this: whichever of the reasons you mentioned is the real one, there’s no actual way to tell the difference.

Honestly, I’m not sure what the fuck any of those men would have to say about this issue that is in any way relevant or meaningful.

lol you’re the worst.

What #metoo needs tonight, when women are finally, rightfully, publicly commanding the spotlight, is attention and respect. It doesn’t need men inserting themselves into the conversation simply because they’ve found a microphone.

It’s a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation for men. Tom Hanks seems like a decent guy but he stumbled on the issue during an interview. Matt Damon isn’t a bad guy but he’s a cautionary tale to other men to sit down and shut up because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

the constant commentary here whenever a male actor says ANYTHING on the subject has been for them to shut up and go away, they are clueless or disingenuous, it’s not for them to speak out on and take the spotlight, and the more they talk the deeper they dig themselves. sooooo... they did that? and now you’re whining

This is the difficult beam to balance (and by difficult I mean as difficult as it gets for important [mostly white] men).

I see this two different ways,

Maybe I’m in a bubble or something, but I see far more people complaining about R&M fans than I do the outrageous behavior in question. Even in the R&M subreddit, which I’d expect to be inundated with that crap, complains about that crap. (I don’t sub to it, I just poked around trying to see examples of this shit.)

Wow could that statement be any more corporate-y? What about its four-quadrant appeal? Could it be Rasta-ifed 10 percent?

Finally, Dan Harmon can get all the alcohol he wants. Which is all of the alcohol.
