The original Märchen were not intended for little kids really. They were more like todays “urban legends”. The Disney versions make them appealing for kids - it’s not a desecration, its good storytelling. People shit on Disney without realising stories are always altered to cater for the audience.

My fav is where the evil queen gets red hot iron shoes put on her feet in Snow White and “dances to death” AT SNOW WHITES WEDDING.
