My favorite is Ray Wert riding in a BYD F3DM Hybrid on the floor of the Detroit Auto Show. The best part was when Ray and company rode into the middle of a presentation. The hosts were not amused.

We still have teachers who are also bus drivers. It’s never a good feeling should you get into trouble on that bus and the driver is also one of your instructors. If you got into trouble either on the bu or in the classroom, your life just became a living hell because the driver/teacher was going to make life…

Until 1983, my school system had a mix of bus drivers. One group was composed of elderly men who didn’t take flack from anybody-including the students or the parents. We’ve been doing this for decades. Those grader operators are heroes. We may complain about potholes in the pavement, but Alabama has some of the best-looking dirt roads in the country and I will die on that hill. (And you can be assured the road leading up that hill will be gorgeous, too.)

We still won’t mandate seat belts on school buses here, so there’s that. We typical Alabamians still refuse to leave our caves completely.

Having dealt with school buses and bus drivers in my career, and having ridden school buses until graduation in 1981, I can find major faults on both sides of the argument.
