For now you will not be able to send picture messages via Google Voice. Just a heads up.

If you're heavily invested in iOS I wouldn't make the jump. It'd be too much money lost in apps or whatever you have. If there are some exclusives on the other side of the fence eventually they make their way over.

The key to the Galactica ships was they weren't completely networked. What am I to do with a computer that's not connected to the internet? Time to load up Oregon Trail.

A hand was probably screwed in that case.

Verizon does collect info for marketing purposes. You have to specifically opt out of it. There was an article about it not too on lifehacker on how to opt out.

You could do it on other carriers but unless your contract is up you'll be walking on thin ice. If you port your number to Google Voice without speaking to Verizon first they'll consider it as you cancelling your service. This will cause you to get hit with that early termination fee.

I know that's what they said but sometimes what a company says it's doing and what it's doing are two different things. From what it sounds like, CarrierIQ collects as much as possible and then it gets sorted out.

IOS 5 was just released this year. So they were still "supporting it" up until October of this year. To me, that shouldn't get them off the hook. What kind of info was collected from June '09 to October '11?

An article on Ambien and no references to the Ambien Walrus!? Craziness!

The T-Mobile girl is going to get a new ride on AT&T's dime!

Yeah I didn't think about that one. I wonder what their filing fee would have been. I'm curious so I'll have to look that up tonight.

This article is the back story for Starship Troopers.

Am I talking crazy here or should AT&T somehow be fined for withdrawing their application at the last minute? I mean they basically had the FCC look into this merger and when they found out the FCC wasn’t on their side they backed out. That to me seems like a waste of time and money for the FCC. With the FCC being a

I'll have to re-visit the story. I don't know why but I remember them either being vague about the info they collect or they mentioned it was for "market research". From what I read It was enough for me not to trust it so I decided to opt out.

I know you guys are saying that Verizon phones probably don’t have CarrierIQ but that doesn’t mean they’re not tracking you. I dug up this article from October showing how to opt out of their tracking. Hopefully this helps anyone who missed it before.

Another article mentioned that custom ROM developers were (or have been?) actively removing these services from their ROMs. I'm at work so my Google-Fu is limited but that is the just of it.

You make a damn good point. Judging from a few articles online it seems like the finger pointing has already begun.

Same here. I call every six months when my "promotion" ends to let them know I want to cancel my cable and just keep my internet. I'm never rude or upset. I'm just perfectly ok with just having internet; cable TV is just a plus.

Why even bring it up then? You sound like the kind of person that likes to instigate fights between people.

I have to say. Even though CM doesn't have a stable release and still has a few bugs it's still well worth it on my Droid X.
