That is true, I must admit. But after a year or two of working on the X3, it really is just a 325ix wagon with a tall greenhouse (and probably a higher ride height). But the DIY community for X3s is so slim that I've found that every bit of E46 wisdom I've come across so far applies to the X3.
The 7 Series (and Audi A8) have been less "Oh my God" cars and more "trophy wife" and/or "wannabe baller" cars for a decade now.
