This is what just happened to my Pixel 3 a couple weeks ago, even in a case, it dropped straight on its back onto asphalt and the edges shattered into oblivion.

I feel the main phone, 5... should be a more budget friendly option but still feel premium, and the XL should be the full out, high grade, best parts available at the time, full price behemoth so many people still want from Google.
