I didn't get the impression Zach was playing them off one another, but I might have misread the scene.

You got that this was not his first lesson, right? That was what the whole conversation with Abby about the accursed odometer was about. He was faking her out as a joke. But she had already actually caught on that Jenny had been giving him lessons. (I'll grant you he was a bit too good) but this was hardly his first

They've done a sort of amazing job with casting the younger actors. I want to know who the guy is that's playing the young Commodore. He sounds almost exactly like Dabney Coleman and he kind of looks like him too. The casting folks need to do a victory lap for their work this season.

Good. Save yourself. Don't.

Yes! Could you imagine Alicia having gone to Veronica had she been in that situation? Yeah, me neither. She totally would have done it on her own and kept her own counsel.

I personally liked Queen of Jordan on 30 Rock. "It's my way 'til payday."

As I noted up-thread, I'm not a big drinker but every once in a while I do partake. And I agree with you- there's a perceived bias.

OH GOD, I wish I could upvote this wonderful comment ad infinitum.

I don't really drink (at all) so I admit to some of the same biases as @laughing girl.

You can always come back and visit us sometimes Sonia!! ToddVdW does.

I bet it is, not because, like you said, there aren't lots of people who have dreamt of taking an unruly kid over their knee but because:

WOW! (I'm blushing). I'm secretly a TV Critic in my own mind, so your words have me purring like a well-content (and possibly preening) cat! Love it!

She also shot Daryl trying to be a badass. The truth of it was, as written (and as you note- acted), Andrea was just an annoying character. She talked a good game but had next to nothing to back it up, not a team-player and not a good judge of character.

Carol's whole arc has been the epitome of the idea "You're either the butcher or the cattle".

Really? Of the three potential family scandals, the one that didn't work for you was the teenaged son knocking up his equally teenaged girlfriend? That one was the only situation that seemed based in any type of reality (not that I didn't appreciate Owen and Veronica's exploits.)

There you go expecting continuity from Shondaland. Shonda & Co. are the undisputed queens and kings of the "ret-con". How long was Huck with B-613? How long has he been out? Why exactly are Fitz and Mellie on the outs (like exactly exactly?), how long have Fitz and Olivia known each other? How do Abby and Olivia know

It's really the Second Season you want to watch. Only watch the First Season for background on the characters. It helps set the stage (and luckily it's only 8 episodes long).

We were just talking over on the Scandal-side about how the sexual politics in Shondaland (and honestly elsewhere on tv) are a bit provincial and antiquated.

Was it first coined in Woo? I think that's where I remember hearing it first. That and the nickname "Co-sign" for a doormat type of guy.

I said after the first episode that I though Connor was bisexual and his constant gunning for Michaela was a manifestation of the ole "I'm pulling on that girl's pigtails because I like her and haven't formed a mature enough vocabulary to just say so". But other AVClubbers sited interviews with the showrunner, Peter
