Thanks for the constructive criticism. It wouldn't let me do that when I created my account, and I'm pretty certain it doesn't make a difference to anything at all. So I haven't gone out of my way to do it since.

Hey, come on now. We're all above this "real woman" crap. There's no one shape that's the right one for women to have in this world, so let's stop using language that dogs each other, regardless of the position of privilege.

I've been commenting on Jezebel for years, thanks. To be perfectly frank I think my feeling on the lyrics of the song (which don't feature in the ad) have absolutely nothing to do with this debate, and I am not prepared to reopen the hip-hop vernacular vs feminism wound for the millionth time in this context.

I feel no particular way about the lyrical content, but I will say that the lyrical content is evidently not the most valuable part of the composition if the rest of it is what Goldieblox used. I'm not arguing from the point of Beastie Boys mega fandom either (I am a casual listener at best). Parody and sampling are

That's all well and good regarding the law, but I am talking about what I think is right. The law does not always adhere to what is right. The will of a co author of this piece of art is paramount in my opinion. I work in marketing and I would not find it morally right for me to use someone's creative work against

People are stupid, they meant collagen. I see this mixup an infuriating amount. It leads me to believe the audience member was a straight man. And a bitch.

I can't say with any conviction as someone who watched porn from being 15, but I'm inclined to say it's only partial. Performing for the centre of attention is an instinct built into much of teenage life. The societal lessening of inhibitions facilitates taking that spirit entering the sexual sphere. Generally I think

Oh man, that makes me sad (as an also self-identified bi/queer woman). But that's youth regardless of sexuality, right? Attention is food then.

I am one of those people, but I'm not American, so I think it's an accent thing. When I do say pussy to mean vagina (which is rare) I feel somehow as if I should put on an American accent to go with it so it doesn't sound ridiculous. Obviously it then ends up sounding doubly ridiculous because it is NOT my particular

HUGELY. Also, a touch like the bratty teen from Uncle Buck, no?

Yeah I did not get that comment. Nike is THE big ass sports brand that's bossing the streetwear market at the moment. The mint green hitops currently snuggling my ankles disagree with this diagnosis

Absolutely true point. I wouldn't personally want to date a conservative person (nor they me) so I should've added that alongside unfeminist in my description above.

Alcohol helps.

Yeah, I'm one of those. 7 and something years, engaged, got together in a really messy way.

I think it's predicated on the notion that guys like multiple partners more than they like good sex, necessarily. A bro-ish notion of scoring being better than satisfaction, as seen through the eyes of women.

Why is it the guy who has to determine whether a first date becomes a second, etc.?

Absolutely, and these groups are at risk of representing the loudest few, rather than the neediest many in my opinion. A perfect example of this is the excessive underrepresentation of people of colour in modern Western populist feminism - a massive oversight by anyone's standards.

Personally, I find there are mainstream versions of feminism that absolutely do not fit my ideals and needs, and that everyone's personal definition varies somehow. The problem in cases like Lily Allen's comments above, is that I feel the most important part of any kind of unified feminism is that you shouldn't throw

Lily Allen's problem is that she is remarkably inarticulate, and occasionally just outright stupid. She seems to be trying to point out that she's a good example of the enemy herself here, and that she has a lot of learning to do (I think). Instead, she comes off like a shallow moron. Way to go!
