Set aside the hyperbole you pose of an “outrage,” real or faux, since the tone and statements of the article do not suggest outrage.

Years ago I had a friend say that “savage’ was offensive to her and her fellow indigenous people for many of the reasons Paul outlined above. So I stopped using it (not that it was really a regular part of my vocabulary anyway).

I saw the usual “Tom Hanks WOKE HOLLYWOOD LIB can’t handle teh truth!11!11!” when I just decided to interpret it as being fed up of Ricky Gervais doing his “I’m so edgy and I say shocking things and they can’t handle me and I’ll never host again...please please hire me for the 6th time, please?” routine yet again.

I enjoy playing a character that’s a *hard* right conservative Christian. It’s fun to see people’s reactions when their own ideas are taken to extremes. But it’s a careful line to walk to not end up inspiring someone.
