I agree. They really went after some of the societal elements that are often touted as virtues. I'm not going to slam the author for coming away less than impressed, but even his prior article "ranking" the confidants felt dismissive of a lot of the specifics.

I totally agree. Ryuji is dumb and earnest and gets dumped on for both traits way more than he should. I had high school friends like this - loud and dumb but good hearted even when they're being singled out unfairly.
