I have not played Yokai watch games, but didn’t they have some functionality with an optional watch toy peripheral akin to that wrist band you can get the gems for on the newer 3DS pokemon games? I wonder if the doors tie in to a similar gimmick? Maybe they will have “door cards” that are basically NFC/Amiibos.

Skylanders handles figures much like lives, if a character gets knocked out he needs to “rest” which means he’s out until you beat the mission your on or quit and retry. I imagine it’s the same here.
