Don't forget the tough on crime 90's that gave us an expanded drug war, mandatory minimums, etc etc that disproportionately affected minorities and the poor. A lot of that stuff was bipartisan as hell. Go back and listen to some of Bill's tough on crime rhetoric from back then.

I personally agree with you. But the deeper philosophical question is this: is a well-done steak truly ruined if the person consuming it LIKES it that way? Is a well-done steak only ruined if the person it was cooked for doesn't like well-done steak?
