Well, yes, I wouldn’t consider him a benevolent psychologist, but he knew how to get (some) people going.

I’ve not read any novel from Cadre, just his I.F., and if he’s done any of that in recent years I’ve missed out. But Photopia & Varicella are both top-notch examples of the form in very different ways. The former isn’t much as a “game” but affected me more than most works of fiction.
