It seems routinely to be the case that some people attempt to raise themselves up by putting other people down. This isn't restricted to any age, ethnicity, gender, or any other measure — it can happen even on the individual level.

Composer puns? If we want to run through the Liszt we'd better get Bizet.

It's a hard situation. I'm staunchly pro-immigration as a matter of both individual rights and humanitarianism, but I understand the pressure that the immigration you describe can put upon existing communities.

Intellectually I understand it's pronounced "Leonard." But that's never how I hear it in my mind.

Oh, Moira…

Salute Your Sharts?

Upvoted for "salad adjacent."

Damn that sequence. I was bawling openly in the theater.

Man, that was the best part of the tram ride (especially pre-Kong)!

Not street enough.

I thought Apocalypto was stunningly good. Damn shame about the awfulness in Gibson's personal life; I can only imagine what movies he might have made otherwise, and how we might regard his career by this point.

I realize I'm late to this party, but what the hell are you talking about? Objectivists do *not* make things up for personal gain (or if they do, that's a gross departure from their philosophy).

With respect, I don't believe I've missed the point, Lhmac. Instead I suspect that you're not sufficiently familiar with the context of this video.

I can't speak for Rolfe, exactly, but he has a YouTube channel that has a number of subscribers and he also has a website, which I guess does decently in traffic.

Rolfe is "correct" in describing his feelings about the Ghostbusters film, and sharing those feelings with his fanbase, too. You're just hypocritical for putting him down for it and unjust in insinuating sexism where none exists (to these eyes, at least).

It appears to me, at least, that the author of this article only skimmed James Rolfe's work before writing up a piece implying that he's sexist.
