For all the shittiness of the new owners, Splinter did it to themselves. They made it crystal clear that they did not want engagement, they wanted to only agree with them. Their social media said as much, and they went as far as to shut down a sub blog that critiqued them too much for their comfort.

Yeah, their management was HORRIBLE. I won’t miss the place as it was run.  They did this to themselves.  Between the mass banning, being completely unresponsive to folks who emailed them asking about it, and their destructive “let’s burn everything down bent,” I’m really not sad.

G/O Media, praised the site’s journalism but said the publication struggled to gain large numbers of readers.

There are plenty of problems with teenage nicotine usage beyond cancer concerns, mostly in the form of it’s unknown impact on brain development. What actual scientists, instead of nicotine addicted lay people are saying, is that there are a lot of unknowns at work here and public skepticism about vaping is warranted

All of these “I love my vape” articles read like a parent using reverse psychology to keep their kids from smoking them.

“Hey honey, aren’t these vape pens dope and fresh? They’re really in fleek right? Do you guys still say fleek? Vape pens are in fleek.

It’s working. I’ve never wanted to vape less.

These recent Jezebel articles have been very successful in convincing me to never vape. I’d hate to be this hooked on something.

Vaping is insanely stupid. We were so close to finishing off cigarette addiction here in the USA and then bam, out comes a new gimmick to keep you smoking. You are truly pathetic if you champion vaping.

Can the GMG please just stop with any/all vape coverage? It’s always a hopelessly vague yet narrow take on an issue that has career public health professionals scratching their heads over the best approach re: we need to decrease vaping without increasing cigarette smoking. Leave this one to the professionals. Also,

“Came for neat pictures, got stuck with another tired take on wealth politics. Aren’t there other Kinja sites for this nonsense?”

You’re clearly a GW denier, but basically every new transportation service should be evaluated on this basis. It’s what should have been done with ICEs in the 1960s when the data first came in that petrol companies buried it and their heads in the sand.

A service for the rich has the advantage of just being rounding

Shut the fuck up.

Where do you see wealth politics? I see perfectly legitimate questioning of the environmental impact of services like this in the last fifth of a long and detailed article. Should the extremely valid concerns raised by carbon-powered transport not be covered on a site that’s dedicated to the subject of motor vehicles?

This smacks of desperation. It comes off as really defensive. But you’re an adult (I think) so you do what you wanna do! But jeez louise, this is approaching Trumpian-levels of defensiveness.

Why Esther insists on making this issue her Waterloo is beyond me.

I look forward to the next instalment of “I’m an adult and I can do what I want, I no longer live under your roof MOM so no longer have to live by your rules

This leads me to my biggest question about Vaping. I see a ton of people say they used Vaping to quit smoking, however, did those people then go on to quit vaping? It seems like most continue to vape as an alternative to smoking.

This is the hill that you take your stand?

You understand that the whistleblower followed the legally prescribed and protected internal process for submitting the complaint, right?

Yeah, uh.

Snotty, mean girl bullshit framed as critical writing on pop culture feminism. Gross and pathetic.
