If we take Roddenberry’s outlook to its logical conclusion, the mid-4th millennium will be so conflict-free that a Star Trek show will consist simply of the cast sitting in their chairs for a full hour, with smug looks on their faces.

I would hope that they stick relatively close to the timeline where it left off, otherwise any guest spots or cameos by living former cast members would all have to be holodeck contrivances like (see gif below) Leonardo diVinci.
