You’re having exactly the conversation you want to have. Everybody, including me, is telling you that your premises are full of holes, using the very thing you commented on as an example, and thus your conclusions are suspect.  I don’t know what you were expecting, but having a conversation means you might have people

Perhaps if everyone else got the wrong message from your comment, the problem is that you didn’t articulate your point clearly enough.

Doesn’t that prove that the rom being offline is completely unrelated to any potential action Nintendo might have taken due to this article, though? If Nintendo was sending these guys legal threats, I doubt they’d take the offending material offline, then post it back online the next day.

How does that square with how Sega has handled Sonic fan games?  AFAIK, they haven’t C&D’d a thing (even straight up bizarre and lewd stuff like Sonic Dreams), and they haven’t lost control of any IP.

If it was before the article was published, what makes you think the article had anything to do with it?

I'm a big fan of the Winegard Flatwave, myself. Only flat antenna I've seen that can pick up VHF-Hi stations.

I’m going to say this - my sister in law is bipolar, and she can be difficult as hell to deal with sometimes, but she has never once turned into Vermin Supreme.  This ain’t just bipolar, this is a whole fucking stew of mental problems that are being further exacerbated by wealth and privilege and being surrounded by

What’s my “favorite” can change in the moment, but the three I seem to always come back to, over and over and over again, are Super Mario Bros. 3, Mega Man 2, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. So I would have to call those my favorites, since they’re the ones that seem to hold up the best and that I always seem

For me, it was at the Redondo Beach pier arcade, before it was even announced, where an early version somehow found its way onto their Playchoice 10 machine, mysteriously labeled “New Game 3" on the menu.  Probably my only beach day as a kid where I spent more time at the arcade than on the beach.

I use Firefox both on the desktop and on my phone.  It has come a long way in the past few years, and it’s nice to use a browser from someone who is neither trying to sell me something nor trying to sell me to someone else.

Yeah, I do find that train travel isn’t really all that cost effective, except under certain circumstances. It's pretty affordable during the holiday season, though, since airline prices go through the roof around that time.

I’ve done a few trips on Amtrak, and they are great fun. You get to see some beautiful scenery and take things at a leisurely pace for a while. I especially recommend it if you’re traveling to a convention or the like, and can network with other people in your area going to the same place; I went from LA to Seattle

So I have to ask, because we saw the same kind of backlash with the Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself meme (BTW, Epstein didn’t kill himself): What is the alternative?

Honestly, I don’t think they needed to get away from the fantasy aesthetic to build mainstream popularity. I mean, you had Hercules and Xena being a big deal throughout the late ‘90s, the Lord of the Rings movies in the early ‘00s, Game of Thrones more recently... it’s not like these trappings ever really went away.

Nothing is more important than the government not being able to tell me what I can and can’t wear.  This is why I always walk around without pants, unconstitutional “indecent exposure” laws be damned.  Little HBK needs to breathe, damnit!

I think you mean this.

Why? Who wants these things?

I agree. Times like this, you really want escapism more than anything.

That is something I like about Bob, especially in the second one. He shows traits of toxic masculinity, but he actively tries to overcome them. IMHO, that’s a powerful thing; that shows men that it's OK, even desirable, to try to get past the roles that you impose on yourself.
