I agree. This is a horrendous oversight. If you are cruising the highway or stuck at a light you need a place to rest your arm and keep your hand off the gear shift. In my 2015 Ford Fiesta that is the center console. It’s not the most comfy(it's a hard piece of textured plastic) but it is a decent place to rest my arm.
