Yeah, it’s a really weird design decision, but if I had to guess, I’d suggest that maybe someone decided that making weapons take more damage when they hit a really huge guy was more accurate, and tying it to the number of frames it’s in contact with the enemy model was a faster way to implement it than arbitrarily

Dark Souls 2, I believe - as I understand it, the original counts the number of frames the player’s weapon is in contact with an enemy to determine how much of its condition is degraded. When the Scholar of the First Sin version was released with a higher framerate, people were reporting weapons degrading extremely

I would suggest that him cheating means he literally IS taking it as seriously as professional motorsports - cheating is rampant with teams constantly trying to stay one step ahead of their sanctioning body’s technical people.

As the legendary Smokey Yunick said, if you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t tryin’.

The results of my quick Steam search for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ seem to suggest otherwise.

Ash, there is a reason such a large percentage of each SEGA Visions and Nintendo Power issue was maps of game levels.

Other kids were all about He-Man or Transformers, but for me, it was GI Joe all the way (though Flint was always my favorite Joe, followed by Lady Jay). The toys, the cartoon, the trading cards and comic books - I forgave the awful second live action movie simply because there was the story of the Hard and Soft

I’m sure the fact that Communism is an unavoidable consequence of socialist policies will come as a great surprise the many, many socialist-but-not-communist countries in the world today.

Wow, man. I mean, personally I’d actually educate myself on things before talking about them, lest I expose my ignorance for all to see, but hey. You do you.

Man, that sounds like the game I literally dreamed about making when I was a kid.

Has Microsoft clarified yet if Smart Delivery will be part of physical releases, or is it limited to digital purchases? I know that going digital is the smart thing to do, but I still like having physical copies to line my shelves.

I’ve only recently played the original FF7 for the first time, but I thought it was laid out fairly clearly by the end - Sephiroth wants to cause a global cataclysm to force the world to channel an enormous amount of life energy into the wound to heal it, and by making sure he’s right there where and when all that

Sci-fi horror is basically my favorite genre, period, so assuming they get the technical issues handled, this looks like my exact thing.

Oh my dear sweet Lord, I needed that laugh today. That was perfect.

Wuv. Twue wuv! Wuv... is what bwings us togevver... today.

Anytime a game pulls that “She’s actually 130 years old, she just LOOKS like an adolescent” thing, I’m out.

Jason, you were always one of my favorite writers here or elsewhere. I’m sad this means your Final Fantasy Retrospective series will never finish, but I hope you’ll have great success wherever your new journalistic digs are, and are able to continue to delay all the biggest games.

I’m not even playing this game - I don’t own a PS4, so I guess I’ll have opinions on the Remake some time next year - but yeah, seriously.

I assume Luke primarily was referring to team names and stadiums,

The main difference between something like Overwatch and something like a WoW raid boss is the relative power levels. An enemy Pharah trying to kill your healers isn’t that much more powerful than anyone on your team, just with different focus and abilities. Everyone is on a far more even footing than they are when
