The people driving these things are leasing them in my experience. Which may be stupid by itself (yes, please, I’d like to buy the two most expensive years in which that car drops 40% in value!) but it presents the real question:

Very true--older 3 series were a joy to drive, with little compromise (legitimately seated four, had a real trunk, lotsa fun to drive).

I’d agree with that.  Maybe it’s because I’m getting older myself, but we switched from BMW to Mercedes a few years ago and don’t plan on going back.

Yep, this. Chris Rock made a lame joke in bad taste (and John Travolta was there—he looks like Toby from This is Us now, why pick on JS?). If Will Smith had calmly taken him to task for that in an appropriate way, Chris Rock would have been the loser.
