I disagree with your statement about the built-in mic being good enough for recording ideas in all cases. I play in a four-piece rock band, and I record every rehearsal at our (acoustically untreated) rehearsal space by throwing my iPad/iPhone with an attached MV88 in the middle of the room and hitting “record.”
