Thank you very much for sharing your experiences. Adoption can be a wonderful for some people, but it’s not like a Hallmark movie (as we both know). I had no idea weight is something they factored in! Wow. I’m sure I could never adopt because I have a criminal record.

I said nothing of the kind in my answer. You *are* initially taking on someone else’s child. Adopted children are 100% part of the family or “true” children. The experience of raising a child given birth to by someone else is inherently different than raising a biological child though.
