I never used umbrellas until I started back to school and started carrying my laptop in my backpack. Now I'm paranoid about my laptop getting wet so I keep a small umbrella in with it, since it always seems to rain the two nights a week I have class.

I stumbled upon the book Vampire$ by accident in my teens and read it about 10 times. It's the fastest moving book I've ever read, albeit definitely nowhere near the best. I was really surprised when I found out someone was making it into a movie, because I always assumed it was like a limited run,

I saw Escape from LA before I saw Escape from NY, and I really thought it was brilliant. I thought the goofy over-the-topness was totally intentional and hilarious. I still think so, but some of you people have me doubting.

The "remove a piece of clothing from the club owner after every win" thing was a true story, except it was the Yankees, and the owner having clothes removed was Steinbrenner.

I'd like to see a movie based on the baseball career of Bob Eucker.

For melancholy Jeff Buckley covers, I prefer Lilac Wine to Hallelujah, even though he totally just aped Nina Simone.

That was Natalie Portman's ass? I thought they just painted a piece of plywood white and put a g-string on it.

I like the Bugle but I tend to fast-forward through the pun-laden Andy Zaltzman stuff. He's shockingly unfunny sometimes.

My friend's dad moved to Iowa a couple years ago, so my friend regularly regales me with tales of the "meat sammiches". He say's they're pretty good, for old people food.

Maybe he's just a fat guy.

What is this Insidious movie I keep hearing about?
It's a good thing I have these huge ads to remind of the movie Insidious on a review of the movie Insidious, otherwise my awareness of this movie would not be at it's full potential.

Hell, I still have the first appearance of the Punisher from a 1974 Spider-Man, and the first 3 or 4 issues of the Punisher series from the mid-80s. Also that one issue in the 80s where Peter and Mary Jane got married.

I had some comics in the 80s that would have been worth quite a bit of money, but I didn't know any better so most of them had the covers ripped off or were folded up and stuffed in a box in the basement. I was never into comics enough to be a collector and neither were my brothers, but just the casual comics readers

I sometimes commandeer my kids' DSes and play professor layton or puzzle quest on the toilet.

Sky Captain was fucking terrible and Angelina Jolie needs to stop being in movies immediately. Just awful and distracting in every movie she's in.

Before I quit watching Lost around the 3rd or 4th season, I had gotten into the habit of fast forwarding through any of the flashback scenes that didn't involve Locke. After the first season or so the flashback/flashforward scenes started to seem like they existed just because they wanted to fill time.

I also enjoyed Spanglish quite a bit, but the sandwich is pretty much the only thing I remember about it now.

I totally understand the "Why watch mediocre movies" thought, because I'm usually that guy. The problem with that is I second guess myself so much I sometimes go weeks without watching a whole movie. Or I delay watching a movie because it got a B grade on AV Club and end up really liking it later and wishing I had

Having the timing and reflexes to drive a stick shift isn't really something you have to be old to know how to do. A kid could easily learn it if he/she could reach the pedals. The driving age is more about safety and good judgment than skills.

You could just divide 22 by 7 and keep doing the math in your head as you go.
