Agreed, Penguin. In the comic there are several scenes of them smartly figuring out how to survive in whatever situation they find themselves, and the drama comes in seeing how a single lapse or moment of stupidity ruins the plan and gets people killed.

I saw it on Sunday evening, of all times, and it was relatively packed. I was surprised the box office was so low. The audience I was in really seemed to dig it.

Scott Pilgrim has a really strong personality/voice to it. There's probably some film studies word that summarizes my argument but I don't know it.

I'm 30, and I didn't realize that was a Murphy Brown reference either. For some reason I thought it was a stilted reference to the "wind beneath my wings" Johnny Carson/Bette Midler thing. I'm not sure why, that really doesn't make sense.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the special effects in Gremlins, especially the creature effects.
