Sure, I bet you aren’t a bigot at all! I bet that’s why you felt a need to bring this shit up, unprompted, basically to tell trans folks to know their place.

I hope they whole-ass it.

This news has single-handedly redeemed my Thursday — no, my entire month.

Lin-Manuel just GETS THINGS DONE.

Ugh, 15 still seems really young. I can’t believe the age of 13 was being considered. :(

The left has to stop being so scared of what the right will do. It affected how Obama handled things after the election - and it has had horrific consequences.

The.

It is a pleasure to read such thoughtful, educated, illuminating comments.

Rumours of Nixon’s intelligence are highly exaggerated. :)

Very much so. Trump has emboldened the worst of our society, but for someone to use his tactics and succeed, shows how morally bankrupt a large part of society is. The devaluation of human life is a symptom of unchecked capitalism. A healthy society shouldn’t be suspectible to someone exploiting racial animus to be

Yes; these are excellent points. And I know that I am far more cynical than one year ago. I truly did believe that Trump would be gone within six months.

I imagine if there was ever documented evidence of Trump doing anything explicitly criminal then Mueller will find it. I don’t think Trump is calculating or self-effacing enough to realize that he still ever made a mistake or to comprehend that he might need to cover something up. If he did try to cover something up,

Totally agreed. You think they’re bold with their corruption, authoritarian tendencies and racism now? If we re-elect these fuckers, it will be a blank check for all of them to go hog ass wild.

It seems impossible that Trump and Stone could have any sort of prolonged correspondence without one or both of them saying something entirely stupid and incriminating—whether it has anything to do with Russia or collusion (or reality) or not.

I don’t want to equate Nixon and Trump because Nixon was actually an intelligent, experienced (albeit morally bankrupt) politician but Watergate didn’t exactly happen overnight. I’ve been listening to Slate’s Slow Burn podcast and they made a point in one of the episodes that small parts of the story kept coming out

Right. I think we keep using collusion as shorthand and it is confusing.

Adding only that “collusion” isn’t a crime, i.e. no federal law defines collusion. Conspiracy however is all over the U.S. code. You are so right about the cover up being worse.

Oh I definitely agree with that. I think some on the left have ceded their agency and want this administration to be taken down by mueller. It was the same type of thing in the election, hoping that each new faux paus will bring trump down. Even now you still see some of that on the left.

Right. I’m definitely not implying that Mueller is accountable for any chaos that will ensue. But I do think that we need a plan (personal and political) for how we are to survive the chaos on the horizon. We’re not thinking past impeachment.

My hopes for this investigation are that Trump goes down before the 2018 election season, but after he endorses a bunch of the Republican nominees in states where the elections are close, and those candidates gleefully accept his endorsement.
