I think I stopped watching in S6 or S7. Has this show done anything to mix up the dull, plodding repetition of “find a place to live, it turns out to be evil or easily invaded by zombies, flee, wander around, find another place to live, repeat”?

For me, the bar is set so incredibly low with Manchin that I’m sort of impressed that he went that far. I mean, dude is from WEST VIRGINIA which has gone totally batshit crazy. Isn’t it, like, the reddest state now? I mean, besides Wyoming and Idaho. You can’t expect too much from the bottom-barrel states. (It’s…
I *need* to know what the deal is with Animal Skin Guy (as somebody on WFMU was calling him today). Why’s he dressed up like that? What’s his story? Is he is an absolute choad, or just a dillweed?
She’d be great and fans always bring her name up, but the BBC usually hires somebody less well-known. Anybody who’s already been a regular on an American series, especially a big hit, probably isn’t going to go back to whatever chump change the Beeb pays. This is also why everybody asking for Idris Elba to be the next…
“But in terms of talent being flat-out wasted, she’s neck and neck with Peter Davison.”
I had to bail on this after the kid showed up and it started getting schmaltzy. “Grumpy crank has to learn to be a parent” is such a cliche. OK, George Clooney, we get it, you just had kids and your parenting instinct has been awakened. Why would I give a crap? The kid is a good actor, but I didn’t care about the…
After #25 and #24, I thought for a split second that every movie was going to have Elisabeth Moss in it. As in, you thought 2020 couldn’t get any weirder!? YOU’RE WRONG. Every critically-acclaimed movie now stars Elisabeth Moss!!!
I’m with It’s-a-Shane on this. I found that first batch mostly very disappointing. There isn’t a story arc, is there? I can just skip ahead to the second batch, right?
IMHO no Chibnall episode has been decently enjoyable besides maybe “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship”. I know some people liked “Spyfall” but I thought it was wildly overrated, especially part 2.
Someone posted this one weird trick (forgive me) that turns it from a shitty awful slideshow into a regular one-page format: just shrink your browser window’s width so that it’s no more than about two-thirds of the page. Then the slides go away and it puts everything on one page.
I’ll keep saying this until the end of time: the cast, the direction, and the location work for Broadchurch S1 were so good that they covered up the weaknesses of the script. The script isn’t that great! If you sat down and tried to read it, you’d fall asleep! The first few episodes are pretty solid and then it’s a…
Agreed, but Chris Chibnall is absolutely the worst possible choice* to do a soft reboot of “Victory”. It’ll just be yet another bland fail, and nobody else will want to try it again for 15-20 years.
That’s one of the rare ones from the late 80s that really holds up. Seasons 22-24 were all pretty awful IMHO and then “Remembrance” comes along as the season 25 premiere and it was a banger, and seemed like a sign of real revival. Too bad the show didn’t last much longer after that.
100% agreed. Maybe I just have no tolerance for camp and cheese, but I never understood the dumb appeal of this movie. You have to sit through an awful lot of boring cliched stupidity to get to the “good parts” (the special effects), and those are brief. The characters are dopey boring cardboard, and the movie, to me,…
You should specify that the $20 million figure was accrued over 11 days, not simply last weekend. Box Office Prophets has explained this -- that $20 million was some *very* creative accounting on the part of Warner Bros.
Her Twitter tagline being “Writer sometimes known as Robert Galbraith” seems like the ultimate irony, but then she herself has said in previous tweets that she experienced something like gender dysphoria at some point. We can only speculate, but maybe she belongs in the same category with Lindsey Graham and that…
You’re right about the lengths of shows on streaming services in theory, but if I understand correctly, in practice, in some cases, the streamer doesn’t buy the worldwide rights to the show, and the producers end up selling the rights to a traditional “linear” broadcaster somewhere. And often traditional broadcasters…
The guy who makes the Survivor Historians podcast definitely thinks the edit given to Vecepia was unfair, or at least didn’t do much to explain her game. Apparently she gave interviews after she won explaining how she’d engineered fights between other players and then stepped back to let them go at it against each…
In this video/podcast, Phillip, as soon as he is given a chance to introduce himself, immediately launches into a completely, wildly unconvincing defense of himself, basically trying to claim the show edited him into being a mentally-ill buffoon. Then he also still claims to be a federal agent (although that part was…
IDK if we even need the tapes anymore now that Drumpf (as of today) has retweeted a video that includes some Floridian yelling “white power!” Of course he’ll claim he didn’t hear that part. I keep thinking Biden is going to say something embarrassing and the media, which loves a close race and hates blowouts, will…
