Yeah, for whatever reason, the host is always paid really well, just not the correspondents. And by "really well," I mean he's swimming in cash. That said, now I can't remember where I heard that about the correspondents and I'm try to find a specific reference to it so can I cite my source(s). No luck so far.

HBOGo without cable? Horseshit. I will eat my hat if HBO actually does that. They get so much free promotion from the cable companies — who also handle all their customer service for them — why piss them off? Basically, HBO is cable and cable is HBO. They are very deeply intertwined and cutting them apart would be

I'm glad for John Oliver and he deserves it, but now this means I'll have to subscribe to HBO to see him. Ugh. Even more money to Verizon Fios? Eh… it costs a shitload already.

From what I've heard, actual acting gigs pay a lot better than TDS which is why they keep losing the best correspondents. You'd think they could… gee I don't know… PAY THEM MORE, but this is Comedy Central we're talking about, so I guess not.

Say what? There are entire channels full of that. Some of them are even actually good, like the BBC World News channel and AJE. (Not to mention a billion websites, which is where most of us probably get our straight news these days.) What else do you want?

I haven't seen that one lately. Does it still have the awesome Norwegian villain? That was the only thing I really liked about it.

I don't really want to defend NBC, because this scheduling move was annoying as flying crap monkeys, and their insistence on trying to turn Sean Saves the World into some kind of hit — which is never going to happen — is idiotic, because the show looks terrible. But to play devil's advocate, I have to say, on almost

Precisely. Hardly anybody seems to understand this. This is ABC. This is not FX or AMC or HBO. It's ABC. Story arcs are not allowed in the early episodes unless it's a soap opera.

Sure it's working. It's working to make a hell of a lot more money for Rupert Murdoch and his shareholders. So if your cable bill goes up a bit because Fox leveraged the power of all its other channels to demand more money per subscriber per month for FXX from the cable companies… well, too bad sucker!

I am no big fan of Verizon but I have Fios and I think we can blame that squarely on Fox which wanted a LOT more money for FXX per subscriber, but apparently didn't or couldn't force Fios to add it to the lower tiers as they do with some other stuff (and that would've just made your bill go up in the lower tiers

I'm a straight white guy and I didn't think it was (usually) dull, patronizing, or preachy. Well, maybe a little, but there were some really funny bits mixed in there.

Fox is charging more money per subscriber for FXX than they did when it was Fox Soccer. They figure they can get away with it because of the dedicated Sunny fans who will demand FXX. It's just a move to make more money from cable companies. Of course they will just pass the costs on to subscribers. This kind of thing

Based on complaints around the Intertubes, their channel placement is still similarly screwed up elsewhere. I have Verizon Fios and it's the same kinda thing here. FXX is still exiled at 584 with the sports channels, the same location it had as Fox Soccer.

FXM already existed as Fox Movie Channel. They just changed the name, but not really much of the programming. It's still largely older movies. They've been commissioning miniseries for FXM recently, to make it seem more like a real channel with actual programming, but those won't be ready for a while.

At first I thought you typed "gender-reassignment" and I was going to say, no, you're thinking of Style, not TLC. (Of course, Style's post-surgery name is "Esquire.")

Yeah, they have a channel. Their dumb channel is only available if you get their dumb satellite service. Dumb.

Sadly, not that many people have DirecTV. That's a satellite provider and its namesake exclusive channel, not a regular cable channel available on all or most systems. I've been looking forward to seeing Black Mirror eventually. Oh well. And no, I don't really want to dick around with streaming it. I tried doing that

Regular coverage please!

He wanted to come. I mean, eh, sheesh, at least make him wash the dishes for the next three days or something. Clearly these characters are written as more selflessly forgiving than, say, me. Seems more idealistic and less realistic to me.

Wow, that drawing has a little shout-out to the Delmarva Peninsula!
