Having owned a 1990 E34 for nearly 10 years, with how insanely reliable it is, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a 6 series from the 1980s (same drivetrain and computers too).

I bought my E34 for $2300 with M5 wheels and brand new tires nearly 10 years ago. Have put maybe $1,500 in parts into it in that very long time, including a lot of murdered tires.
That’s exactly what I took away from this. Most of these stories (and these are the ones that actually made it into this Top 10 14 list) were much better summed up as:
I too am interested in this. That sure would be hilarious if all the mechanicals were identical and it was a reflash (which would almost certainly rat on you to the dealership) away from nearly doubling the horsepower.
“375 horsepower”
You’d figure Honda would want to avoid accidentally legitimizing everything that Hondanonymous wrote, but, well, thanks for letting us know that was all true, Honda.
It’s amazing how even with the dorkiest proportions those cars are so beautiful.
“most of the bowling out on the lanes had ground to a halt, and all eyes were on the silver guy “doing the robot” as his trousers shimmied down to his ankles. Please understand: two hundred dollars was almost half my rent at the time.”
“The little boy on the bike who thinks public roads are his own personal race track should have had his license suspended at most.”
Hey don’t you talk about Honda Accords like that. It’s not their fault that their 4th owner at 200,000 miles invariably won’t do a single lick of maintenance. It’s still a great car, just being abused at that point. And probably lowered.
Wait, your sane reaction to somebody not being able to buy $500 tires is “have your parents buy you $500 tires as a gift”?
Well shit
I’ve never paid for cable and I moved out in college more than a decade ago. The only thing that would draw me to cable would be if cable companies offered an ESPN-only (plus ESPN2 and ESPNU) package that cost $20 or less a month. I might actually pay for that.
I have to imagine that almost nobody over 30 dies like this. There’s a certain point where you just stop caring what people think. Before that, caring what people think is suicide.
I love that you’re referring to one of the fastest road-legal vehicles ever produced as “plenty fast enough for me. Not sure I’d go out actively looking for anything faster.”
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. The question here is “what’s the fastest bike you’d ride fast?” I’ve ridden a Concours 14, easily the most powerful bike I’ve ever ridden, but I certainly didn’t wind it out.
You went to all that trouble to clarify that you were being pedantic?
At least you haven’t been invaded by Braydens, Laydens and Bryleighs (yes, all real).
“Totally safe” stanced car hits bump going straight, immediately loses control.
“When setting up these extreme stances correctly, they drive just as well as any other car.”
