I agree. A cable connected to a handle, routed a few feet through a firewall and onto the transmission is way better than a lever bolted right into the gearbox, inches below your hand, which just happens to fall directly onto the shifter as if by magic when you sit down in a Miata.

Having grown up going to Giants games for most of my childhood, and being at the stadium on October 17, 1989, it’s sad to see time take it away like this when so many other stadiums get elevated to mythic status and, crucially, taken care of to keep them that way.
