Well that’ll happen when your car spins near 2,000rpms (or even below that) at freeway speed (that’s been GM’s mpg trick for years on torquier cars) and has an engine that’s famously gotten 30mpg highway since the 1980s. It’s still an outlier for its size and simplicity, just like the Altima is.

38mpg highway in a midsize car is pretty damn amazing, but Nissans save a decent amount of weight deleting all the turn signal hardware from the cars so that might be a big factor.
