Yeah a mile of that and you're already hitting up the warranty on the axle bushings. That's just insane.

Considering the whole purpose of dropping the engine size by 30% was to pick up mileage, then yeah, that sucks a lot. I'll put the blame on the turbo being too eager to kick in boost at lighter throttle angles and lower load.

I don't think you do understand that it was stated for effect, if the effect gets lost on you in a pedantic race to clear the air on the specifics of ant lifting capability.

That's a thing? That doesn't sound like a thing.

I haven't owned a BMW that stranded me, except when the timing belt on my neglected 525i finally snapped at somewhere north of 220,000 miles. Swapped belt and head, kept driving and eventually sold that drivetrain at 250,000 miles or so, running like it was new. Swapped in bigger motor, BMW still going at 292,000

I'm sure you think you're talking sense, but you're really just taking a horribly pessimistic view and applying it to everything here.

Finally a car to justify the driving style of "Type R" Honda Civic owners.

I'm gonna take a wild guess it was on race tires, based on how vague they were. That makes an enormous difference.

There's no way those are real.

Holy shit TWO of them?

What's odd is he's selling a "pre-production" car as a good thing. Isn't that code for "Beta testing for part failures?"

Dude, you could buy a Superbird in 1970 that allegedly could do 200mph off the showroom floor. Of course cars had gone faster before and after the mid 1980s. I'm just making a comment on the amazing leap cars have made since the malaise era, which for many of us was within our childhoods.

You know what's f'ing insane about that? A bit more than 30 years ago the Jaguar XJ-S was the fastest new car you could buy (probably only for a year), topping out at about 152mph.

In fairness the Vs were notoriously laggy.

OR (check this out) the car could go like, other speeds than 248mph. It could go 247mph, or even like 10mph.

I'd like to see how many death penalties Virginia would try to throw at somebody for such an awesome feat of speed.

"as elderly white conservatives die off and take their world view with them, pickings are slim for youth that mirror their antique ideas about how a country should be run."

Interesting. I wonder if that's real or just saving face.

That'd be a good point since the cops don't know if the guy has committed a violent felony and is in danger of doing it again, which is usually the criterion for continuing a pursuit in jurisdictions that err on the side of safety. Then again, cops tend to assume someone will do something dangerous, so there's that.

I don't think it's possible for a car most people see only twice a year to "get a reputation" per se.
