No, gaining entry into a flat against a person's express wishes isn't rape (and, it wasn't a flat; it was a hotel room, not her home). Gaining entry into their body—like "fish-hooking" her, after she's told you to leave, and then refusing to leave when she tells you again after you "fish-hook" her...that is RAPE.

They're saying he no longer works there, too.

The face-coverer actually walked off the stage for a minute, I think. I really wonder who those guys are; I'd really like to hear what they have to say.

Also, as totally disgusting and vile as all this is, I keep returning—for some dumbo reason—to the fact that he went over there filthy and smelly from work. Honestly? Were I her, yeah, the fact that he was in his greasy work clothes and probably stank of sweat and oil would make me more scared/uncomfortable right from

Excellent point. I wondered that too, but it sort of got glossed over in my head as he kept going, if you know what I mean.

Oh, wow, cool! Doesn't it just seem like it would be such a good thing, though? The comic shop we used to go to (they're still our friends but we don't live there now) does an annual singles night at the shop, with snacks and stuff, and it's a big success for them; Tate's Comics in Ft. Lauderdale.

Oh, I'm sad to hear that, about both of them. Cool ladies, I think.

Wow, yeah, she really does, why should a woman get upset at your ridiculous bullshit defense of a rapist? Man, bitches be trippin'. *shakes head*

Yeah, I don't get that part. How does she have the friend's number? Didn't she give HER number to the friend, but he has a gf so wasn't going to call her? Why, if he's faithful to his gf, would he give this chick his number?

Yeah, it looked like one of the guys actually walked off the stage, which was good, but they could have been better/stronger about it at the end. I get that for the first half or so they were expecting some kind of funny twist, you know, something that would redeem the story and make it not actually be about rape, but

Ha! Not sure what the men would think of that one, though. :-)

Yes! We'll take the money and run, then give it to the shoeless children and the people living in the streets.

Well of course I have opinions/thoughts on the subject; I am a woman writer, so of course I notice and am bothered when we're excluded, like we are a lot of the time. This isn't an isolated incident. If it was it would be different. I just see this as yet another list on which female writers are underrepresented, and

A few months ago on Twitter I had the greatest idea, a way bookstores could bring in some more cash and encourage reading and all of that, by having Singles Nights/singles reading groups. I still wish someone would pick that up. Seriously, we all want a man who reads, right? It would be such a nice easy way of

I would pass, except one of my favorite novels ever really IS a book I first read in my Honors English class senior year in HS. :-( I still read it at least once or twice a year.

Really? Not even "loose" instead of "lose?" I hate that one.

This is the suspicion I'm seeing, is that she was somehow trying to steal from it, because otherwise, yeah, they'd easily catch her.

God, she is SO SMART. I am so glad she's there to tell us all the REAL TRUE TRUTHS.

Sigh, you know, you keep talking about him, saying he's doing me wrong, doooing me wrong....

Aaw, really? But do you love my peaches and want to shake my tree? :-)
