There were movies that got no Best Picture consideration that IMO were better than Forrest Gump as far as all-time greats go. Off the top of my head: The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Leon: The Professional, The Lion King, Heavenly Creatures, and my favorite flick of 1994, The Hudsucker Proxy.
