I agree- it does seem to be a good car by today’s standards. Disclaimer: I’ve never spent any time with one.

How did you diagnose no compression? Are you sure the starter ring gear is still on the flywheel?

But you were so careful with it once you got it running outside your garage. Oh, wait... So maybe running the hell out of a tired old engine really isn’t the best idea after all.

It would be fine except it has a character line that dives south ahead of the wheel well. It looks like a mistake. Had GM just run a line continuously from front to rear, I think it would look great. Instead, it just looks really odd.

Totally agree.

Nice thing about cam phasing is it allows you to get rid of incorporate EGR inside the head.

Fair enough. To each his own. But I suspect that type of cohesion between frontal and side design elements to continue.

The front end has certain Caddy attributes.

Not really. The rear quarter of the Volt is much more cohesive than the rear quarter of the Malibu.

In order to have a legitimate road trip with a rebuilt / salvaged / tacked together vehicle, one can not have a tow vehicle following with a trailer. It kinda defeats the whole sense of adventure- Even if there is antifreeze running across the concrete next to the fuel pump.

Bingo.

For the same reason it does not have valve springs.

Except that public agencies typically dump them long before they reach those miles. There are a lot of variables in play here. Therefore it would be a mistake to interpret this as a list of the most durable.

Are those really OEM fake bead locks?

Tesla is to Oslo as Prius is to Portland. They are everywhere.

Well, no.

Wait, what?

Dear god I hope you are kidding.

As opposed to the virtual or metaphorical beg.
