Shit. This makes me want to cry. I’ve followed Nicky since he was a teenager riding in the AMA series, and have met him numerous times. He is a class act and always accommodating to his fans.

I really hope Nicky is ok. He is pretty much universally well-regarded in the MotoGP and WSBK paddocks as a fast rider, a hard worker, and an all-around great human being. For my cars-only people, just imagine Paul Walker on a motorcycle.
Thanks for your comment, and observation. The more I spoke with him, the less I felt like he really even cared about cars. It just happened to be the thing he was addicted to. And addiction is a pretty ubiquitous thing.
What a sad, sobering read... for this man it was BMWs, but I can’t help but look around my Metro train and wonder how many people staring out windows or at their phones right now deal with the same demon as this poor man did, with the only difference being the object of the obsession rather than the method.
“The report goes on, saying the Mazda Miata is killing it right now, with sales up 35 percent this year. Even the Miata’s sister, the Fiat 124, is “selling in steady volume,” and the BMW Z4 and Toyota 86 have seen their volumes jump a bit for 2017, too.”
be in accordance with factory standards for condition and service compliance
Extremely rare? I’d call that extremely well done.
You’re much better off bead blasting the corrosion off and going at it with a buffing wheel or pedestal mounted buffer.
It’s more equipment but you’d be done with clean up in 45 min. What’s 9 hours of labor worth to you?
If you drive an EV, and don’t pay a higher registration fee/whatever, then you are getting a “free ride” on those roads maintained using excise taxes on gasoline.
Sounds like it all worked out for the best.
Agree. I dislike that my tax dollars are subsidizing people buying $100k Teslas. If you can swing that kind of cash for a car, please spend $7,500 of my tax dollars on something else.
Good.
Should have made the cars look more attractive... but then I’m beating a dead horse. The Tesla’s look good, Bolt’s are garbage, and Leaf Owners are no one that you need in your life.
Georgian here. Before the $5k rebate went away, I very nearly leased a Nissan Leaf. I had test driven it, I had figured out how I was going to charge it for free (thanks employers!), and how I was going to basically have a new electric car for the cost of insurance. Plus its made right here in the US.
We accidentally got the two teammates swapped around when running through photos real quick. It’s since been swapped out.
I am pleased to say that having survived this experience, our Alanis has graduated from freelance weekend editor to full-time staff writer. Join me in saying congrats! You’ll be seeing a lot more of her work and derring-do come mid-May.
I know this post is not at all serious, but seriously, get yourself 1Password for your computer and phone. It’s a password utility that stores all your passwords, integrates with your browser, and generates strong passwords. It syncs across devices, so you never have to remember a password again.
That’s a very simple view of a complex issue. But I’ll let you in on a dirty little secret: inflation is something the U.S. government wants, and they act to make sure that it exists regardless of wage levels. When wages increases don’t keep up with inflation (which is the case here in the U.S.), an economy dependent…
Corporations keeping wages low is one of the reasons why consumers demand lower prices. At some point the expansion of credit is not going to be enough to compensate for the loss of purchasing power and companies are going to learn the hard way that maximizing profits by keeping wages low is not a good long term…
