Yeah, it would be easy for him to play Aegon as another Joffrey, but it’s a much subtler performance -- I particularly like those little looks he gives in small council meetings where he suddenly understands the point they’re trying to explain to him and he’s clearly embarrassed that he had said something stupid

Although her bravery was admirable, Rhaenys’s sacrifice was stupid. After Aegon and Sunfyre went down, she had absolutely no reason to stick around. Vhegar and Aemond were distracted, Rook’s Rest was a lost cause, and she already did tremendous damage to the enemy, literally crippling (and possibly killing) the Usurper

The books always feel one page away from everyone realizing they should just split back up again.

Which is why I still say GoT should have ended w/o anyone seated on the Iron Throne. After 300 years of Targ repression, Westeros goes back to ruling themselves independently.

Also that was Vahgar that fell on the army crushing people.  The dragon just got back up moments later.

Her inevitable death is not in vain, though; her dragon explodes on impact with the ground, wiping out almost the entirety of Criston’s ill gotten army.

They’re writing for the actors now, and throwing in a lot of fanservice. There’s a reason we’re seeing a lot of Aemond swooshing around and being filmed in profile. He’s also being characterized in a way that suits the performance but isn’t in the book. Same for Aegon. Tom G-C is doing a great job of playing Aegon as

Parenting grades for the episode:

Oh Aemond absolutely knew what he was doing with that timing. And we all know why he was standing there with his sword out when Cole found him next to Aegon.

I don’t think the reasoning is anything other than GRRM having a bit of fun while naming a few of hundreds, if not thousands, of characters in his books and lore.

I like how Alicent is now completely done with trying to hide her contempt for Aegon. “And what ideas would you have?”

You could argue that it’s Aemond who jeopardized everything. Not keeping Aegon in the loop on what the plans were while openly insulting him in his court and then outright attacking him as he did.

I’m really not sure why people still insist that Alicent should have heard her dying husband say their son’s name and the word “prince” and assume he was talking about his ancestor. Alicent didn’t know the story, and the “grammar” of the show was that it was Viserys’ failure by keeping things from his wife. We were

I’ll give Ser Criston his flowers, it was a good plan. Too bad his idiot boss had to jeopardize everything.

“There was a dream that was Rome, where landowners conscript their lessers to help murder those we deem uncivilized. Where slaves flow like water. Where women have very little power and also we eat and drink lead all the time.”

Let’s be honest, his output has always been a little spotty. When he hits, he fucking hits, but as far back as ‘92 he made a garbage historical drama with 1492: Conquest of Paradise. And I know some people love the camp of Legend, it is also arguably pretty bad.

Gladia2r

If this is supposed to be Caracalla and Geta, then yes these are 2 of the worst emperors in Roman history, who did much to start the plunge into the crisis that was most of Rome’s 3rd century.

Sure, it’s clearly a sequel to and related to the first one, but there’s something sort of ridiculous about the name “Gladiator 2" (even if it’s dressed up as “II”). Surely there’s something better or at least less silly out there.

Can I just say that’s the weirdest Arthurian reference I’ve ever seen in a serious piece of work?
