This. The story is the worst part of the Hitman games, it was bunk from Hitman 2 onward, impossible to suspend disbelief for that needless convoluted backstory of an assassination organization. The “bigger story” trope is just not needed here.

As needless and trivial as the end-mission cutscenes are, it’s nice to see various little details that tie the episodes together in story. The highmoore’s being mentioned in the Paris and Bangkok is one example that I can think of, as well as Dalia Margolis being brought up in conversations in Marrakesh - those sorts…

By all accounts, it was Miller who wanted to do the big-budget, tentpole followup with Reynolds being the voice of “no, let’s stick with what worked the first time.”
